The newly appointed Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Bulgaria, H.E. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, met with the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, to discuss opportunities for the development of bilateral trade and economic relations. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Chief of Vietnam Trade Office, and Mr. Doan Minh Nguyen, First Secretary at the Embassy of Vietnam in Sofia also attended the meeting.
For the guests, Mr. Simeonov provided an overview of the BCCI’s activities, its regional network, and the Council of Sectoral Organizations operating under the Chamber’s umbrella. He elaborated on the BCCI’s ties with Vietnamese partners, stressing Vietnam’s strategic role as an important trade partner of Bulgaria in the Southeast Asian region.
H.E. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet noted that Bulgaria and Vietnam share a long-standing tradition of cooperation, with bilateral trade steadily increasing each year, although significant untapped potential still exists. She noted that 2024 was a year of key developments, including the Intergovernmental Joint Commission held in Sofia and the official visit of Bulgaria’s President to Vietnam, which lay the groundwork for deeper trade and economic cooperation.
In this context, she announced that the Embassy, in cooperation with BCCI, is organizing a Bulgaria–Vietnam Economic Cooperation Forum, to be held on July 3rd at the BCCI. The event is being organized to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Bulgaria and aims to strengthen the economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries, to implement signed agreements effectively, and to pursue other joint goals in the economic sphere.
The discussions also addressed opportunities for cooperation in arbitration proceedings, the establishment of contacts between tour operators from Bulgaria and Vietnam to boost tourism in both countries, labor import, and working conditions.
Mr. Simeonov wished the newly appointed Ambassador success in her mission and expressed BCCI’s readiness to support her efforts in enhancing the bilateral cooperation throughout her mandate in Sofia.
