“The interest of the Bulgarian business in China is growing, which is also reflected in the bilateral trade exchange,” stated Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during the Trade and Economic Cooperation Conference held in Sofia. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) and the Embassy of China in Bulgaria. It was focused on strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and brought together more than 120 companies from Bulgaria and China.
Mr. Simeonov highlighted that sectors of mutual interest with significant potential include renewable energy sources, automotive manufacturing, electronics, and others. He emphasized that Bulgaria has the opportunity to become a training hub in the field of the renewable energy and new technologies, in partnership with China. The President of BCCI also presented Bulgaria’s key macroeconomic indicators and advantages, among them low taxes, low public debt, and more.
The conference was opened by H.E. Dai Qingli, Ambassador of China to Bulgaria, who stated that the two countries have great potential for developing economic cooperation. “We have many areas of common interest that we can expand, in order to promote peace and mutual understanding. This will lay a solid foundation for partnership over the next ten years,” said H.E. Dai Qingli.
Krasimir Yakimov, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth, welcomed the representatives of companies from Bulgaria and China. “Bulgaria is ready to offer new opportunities for investment and technological cooperation with China. Our country has strong expertise and is actively working to improve the business environment, as well as to promote itself as an attractive destination for investors,” said Deputy Minister Yakimov. He noted that in today’s fast-changing world, there is a need for active exchange of ideas and experience in areas such as innovation, research, technology transfer, artificial intelligence, and green energy.
Li Junjun, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, also addressed the participants and emphasized that Bulgaria holds advantages in the production of auto parts and in the field of artificial intelligence. He further stated that Jiangsu Province is ready to deepen economic cooperation with Bulgaria in sectors such as steel production and new energy technologies.
