Meeting with Representatives of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Tsvetan Simeonov, President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), held a meeting with Dimitris Skalkos, Secretary General for International Economic Affairs at the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Board of ENTERPRISE Greece.

The meeting was also attended by H.E. Alexios Marios Lyberopoulos, Ambassador of Greece to Sofia; Olympia Oikonomou, representative of the General Secretariat for International Economic Affairs at the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Alexandra Rouva, Second Secretary for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of Greece in Sofia.

During the discussion, Dimitris Skalkos emphasized that, in a context of global turbulence, neighboring countries should expand and deepen their cooperation. He noted that Bulgaria is an important partner for Greece, and that following Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen Area and the Eurozone, additional opportunities for economic development have opened up for the country.

Tsvetan Simeonov expressed his gratitude for the meeting and highlighted that BCCI maintains excellent cooperation with the chambers of commerce in Greece, the Bulgarian-Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Embassy of Greece in Sofia. He noted that following Bulgaria’s accession to Schengen, BCCI has doubled the number of joint events with Greek partners, stressing the growing interest in collaboration, also driven by the geographic proximity of the two countries. The meeting also addressed Greece’s experience in the tourism sector, as well as other topics of mutual interest.

The President of BCCI further announced that, together with the Bulgarian-Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry, preparations are underway for an international conference titled: “Circular Ports for Global Trade: Green Infrastructure and Smart Connectivity”, scheduled to take place on 14 March 2026 in Thessaloniki. BCCI will provide further updates on the initiative.
