H.E. Ms. Shahnaz Gazi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh, based in Bucharest and accredited to Bulgaria, Moldova, and North Macedonia, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). The meeting was attended by the President of BCCI, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, the Vice President, Dr. Vasil Todorov, Yordan Belovodski, Secretary General of the Kyustendil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Georgi Ivanov, Honorary Consul of Bangladesh in Bulgaria.
During the meeting, Ambassador Gazi expressed gratitude to Bulgaria, highlighting that our country was among the first nations to recognize the independence of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on January 12, 1972. Information was presented regarding the upcoming international textile and apparel exhibition, BATEXPO 2026 (Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exhibition), along with an official invitation for the Management of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to attend the event.
During the discussion, an insufficient exchange of economic information was noted. To address this, the Embassy’s team and BCCI agreed to co-host an online webinar on investment opportunities in Bangladesh. BCCI will also support the organization of an exhibition in Sofia showcasing Bangladeshi products.
The South Asian country boasts a strong light industry, with clothing generating over three-fourths of Bangladesh's exports. The pharmaceuticals and leather goods industries are also well established.
