In January 2020 the exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries increased by 2.2% in comparison with the same month of 2019 and added up to 1 581.5 Million BGN. Main trade partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, China, the United States, Serbia, the Republic of North Macedonia and the Russian Federation which accounted for 53.5% of the exports to non-EU countries.
In January 2020 in the exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries, distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification, the most notable growths compared to January 2019 were recorded in sections ‘Crude materials, inedible (except fuel)’ (58.3%) and ‘Beverages and tobacco’ (46.4%). The most notable fall was reported in section ‘Mineral fuel, lubricants and related materials’ (20.8%).
Imports of goods to Bulgaria from third countries in January 2020 increased by 5.4% in comparison with the same month of 2019 and added up to 2 158.2 Million BGN (at CIF prices). The largest amounts were reported for the goods imported from the Russian Federation, Turkey, China and Egypt.
In January 2020 in the imports of goods to Bulgaria from third countries, distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification, the largest growths compared to January 2019 were recorded in the sections ‘Crude materials, inedible (except fuel)’ (85.5%), and ‘Animals and vegetable oils, fats and waxes’ (68.6%). The most notable fall was observed in sector ‘Mineral fuel, lubricants and related materials’ (16.2%). The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries in January 2020 was negative and added up to 576.7 Million BGN.

The total value of all the goods imported in the country in January 2020 amounted to 5 297.6 Million BGN (at CIF prices), or by 4.9% more than January 2019.
