Trade and Economic Relations between Bulgaria and Sweden Develop Successfully and the Exchange of Goods Records Steady Growth


The newly appointed Head of the Trade and Economic Affairs Office (TEAO) in Stockholm, Mr Miroslav Barnev, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and held a meeting with its President, Mr Tsvetan Simeonov. During the conversation, they discussed the current state and prospects of developing the trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Sweden.

Tsvetan Simeonov presented the main points in the activity of BCCI which can be in support of companies and TEAO. He put an emphasis on the opportunities, provided by the Chamber voluntary Unified Trade Register, including the access to business information, making and providing Reports on foreign partners and issuing company References. The advantages of Arbitration procedures were also presented as an effective tool for solving trade disputes.

The BCCI President declared the Chamber’s willingness to assist in organising business delegations, holding bilateral meetings and establishing contacts with institutions.

On his part, Miroslav Barnev presented up-to-date information on the bilateral exchange of goods, which reached €725.85 million in 2025 and marked a 9.2% increase compared to 2024. Data of the Ministry of Economy and Industry show that in 2025, the export from Bulgaria to Sweden amounted to €438.1 million, marking a significant 22.3% growth on an annual basis. The trade balance is positive for Bulgaria with 150.4 million euro. The Kingdom of Sweden is the largest trading partner for Bulgaria among Scandinavian countries.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of organising an online Seminar, aimed at supporting Bulgarian companies when they enter the Swedish market.
