BCCI survey: 77% of the companies approve the introduction of the dual training

77% of the members of the BCCI believe that the knowledge acquired at the Bulgarian universities are not sufficient enough in terms of professional realization. Only in 8% of the companies owners and managers are satisfied to a high degree of the university education of their young employees.

These were the results of the BCCI survey on rating the education in our country by the business and the expected needs of professionals over the next ten years. The survey was conducted electronically in the first week of February this year, covering as well suggestions for improving the educational sector.

When asked what kind of knowledge and skills young people are lacking in particular, 80% of the entrepreneurs indicate that most of all they see gaps in their professional skills. More than half of them – 56%, also indicate the lack of entrepreneurial mindsets.

For the second year in a row, members of the BCCI note that the biggest lagging behind in the quality of the education concerns the higher education (according to 45%) and the secondary vocational education (according to 30%). Less negative in terms of acquired education are the assessments of the foreign language schools.

In the next 5 to 10 years the members of the Chamber will tend to employ people of comprehensive or high qualification. Most wanted will be specialists with technical background followed by graduates of economics.

The survey generally shows that the businesses have preliminary positive attitude towards the dual system of education (according to 77% of the entrepreneurs). Employers’ recommendations to education pointed in the survey, concern the need of more practical orientation of the education and the real connection between the needs of the businesses and the university admissions by fields of study.
