Expansion of business contacts between Bulgaria and Italy

H.E. Giuseppina Zarra, Italy’s newly appointed Ambassador to Bulgaria, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with Francesco Calderoli, Deputy Head of Mission.

Ambassador Zarra already has experience in Bulgaria. Between 1994 and 1998, she was a Counsellor at the Italian Embassy in Sofia and was responsible for the economic and consular departments, as well as for bilateral trade relations. In 1996, she was awarded a BCCI diploma for her personal assistance in expanding economic ties between the business communities and the chambers of commerce of both countries.

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov talked with the diplomats and presented the novelties in the work of the Chamber. He stressed the active interaction with Italian partners and Italian investors in Bulgaria - Confindustria, ITA, the Bulgarian-Italian Chamber of Commerce and individual investors – current and potential.

The EU recovery plan, drafted by the European Commission, the European Parliament and EU leaders to help repair the economic and social damage caused by the COVID-19 crisis was discussed.

Ambassador Zarra pointed out that Italian companies can be very useful in the various priority areas of this plan, as well as for the growth of foreign investment in the country, in particular in areas such as transport infrastructure, digitalization of ports, energy and others.

An active exchange of information was agreed between BCCI and the Italian Embassy in order to provide the required assistance to Bulgarian and Italian companies.
