At its regular session of January 12, 2016, the Executive Board of BCCI considered the information about the nomination of Mrs. Irina Bokova as Secretary-General of the United Nations.
BCCI believes that she is a strong candidate with the right skills, experience and international prestige. She has proved to be a successful Director General of the World Organization of the United Nations for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) and she is leading the Organization for a second mandate, even at a time of global challenges.
Bulgaria has the unique opportunity to appoint the first woman Secretary General of the Organization.
BCCI expresses its support for the nomination of Mrs. Irina Bokova as Secretary-General of the UNO and believes that all efforts should be made for the realization of this exclusive opportunity for Bulgaria.
