Changes need to be done in the education and training of specialists in Bulgaria

The educational system in Bulgaria has to implement significant improvements in order to meet the needs of the employers – both the Bulgarian, and the foreign companies. This was the common view shared at the meeting between the Deputy Chair of the German-Bulgarian Industrial and Trade Chamber, Mr. Andreas Shaefer, and the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov. It is necessary, above all, to establish legal possibilities for the employers to conduct their own trainings for the workers they need in order to comply with the requirements of the production process. 

Main topics of the discussion were education and trainings of specialists in Bulgaria. It was noted that it would be appropriate to apply pilot projects following the model of the German system of dual training, and this could be started very soon.

The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry affirmed the Chamber’s position that employers, who additionally train their employees, should introduce incentives, such as tax benefits for example. Furthermore, it should be possible for employers, who have invested in trainings of their employees, to keep them for a certain period of time at work in the company on the basis of prior agreement with them.
