BCCI took part in an online business forum dedicated to the business climate and investment opportunities in Bulgaria and Turkey

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry took part in an online business forum dedicated to the business climate and investment opportunities in Bulgaria and Turkey. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) and the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK). Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Economy Ms. Yana Topalova, Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade Ms. Yilmaz Batur, and Mr. Zeki Saribekir, Chairman of DEIK opened the forum.

Deputy Minister Topalova said that Turkey is an important foreign economic partner of Bulgaria and is among the top 10 countries with the largest share of direct investments in our country, which in 2020 amount to EUR 20 million. She informed that bilateral trade in the period January - September 2020 amounted to EUR 3.175 billion, which is a decrease of 11% compared to the same period of last year. The Deputy Minister of Economy was adamant that despite the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bulgaria remains financially and macroeconomically stable.

The Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey Ms. Yilmaz Batur stated that Bulgaria is a strategically important partner of Turkey - on the one hand because of our country’s membership in the European Union, and on the other - as a neighbour.

After the presentation panel, the event continued with B2B meetings between Bulgarian and Turkish companies from the sectors of automotive industry, electronics and electrical engineering, mechanics, machinery and mechatronics, ICT and chemical industry. More than 150 companies from both countries took part in the meetings held in a virtual environment.

DEIK and BCCI are long-term partners and are preparing a programme of events and initiatives in 2021. More information HERE.
