Bulgarian companies have managed to properly use the time during the state of emergency to enter data about their products online

Tsveta Bratanova, CEO of GS1 Bulgaria

BG Barcode is a universal product catalogue for goods of all categories. Developed by GS1 Bulgaria in 2018, it allows the collection and storage of structured and reliable product data for goods having a barcode starting with 380, entered directly by the manufacturers and brand owners.

In October, a German company – service provider of a popular collective shopping website, trusted BG Barcode and made an API connection to the catalogue in order to use the data included in it. This partnership is a recognition for us and our work, said Tsveta Bratanova, CEO of GS1 Bulgaria. “The fact that we can meet the demand for data also shows that companies in Bulgaria have managed to properly use the resource time and the state of emergency to enter data about their products online, guaranteeing their presence in a digital environment through the BG Barcode catalogue. From March to October we report an increase of the entered products by over 300% compared to the same period last year. The fact that the data is entered by the manufacturers themselves minimizes possible errors. For companies that have already entered their data in BG Barcode, this is a huge advantage and all major partnerships create a real increase in sales.

GS1 Bulgaria member-companies have access to the full information about their products and basic information about the other products in the catalogue, as well as the opportunity to search products for free. However, to download and use more complete information for all products a license is required. Information about the types of licenses is available on the website of BG Barcode.
