Discussion of opportunities for intensification of trade and economic relations with Kuwait

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov discussed with  Bulgaria’s new Ambassador to Kuwait Dimitar Dimitrov the current state of the bilateral trade and economic relations. Simeonov presented the Chamber’s relations with its partners from Kuwait - the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Employers' Organization of Kuwait. Ambassador Dimitrov expressed readiness to organize a meeting with the national chamber of commerce to coordinate joint business initiatives of mutual interest.

The issue of the lack of a Bulgarian trade representative in Kuwait was also discussed. BCCI has a positive experience in implementing the model of public-private partnership in foreign trade practice, sending Asparuh Karastoyanov as a trade representative in Kuwait in 2005.

Ambassador Dimitrov expressed readiness to seek opportunities for closer cooperation between business from both countries. He gave the example that in the Gulf countries it is a tradition to hold meetings with representatives of the embassies of the EU countries and the relevant national institutions in order to find common ground in the economies and set strategic objectives of common interest.

There are 15 companies with capital from Kuwait registered in the Unified Trade Register of the BCCI, as well as 24 representative offices of companies from this country, which is encouraging for the interest of Kuwaiti business in Bulgaria.
