The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov had a meeting with the new Ambassador of Pakistan to Bulgaria H.E. Ms. Mariam Madiha Aftab and the Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Omer Manzoor Malik.
Tsvetan Simeonov presented the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which has a regional network of 28 chambers of commerce and industry and representative offices in 220 municipalities in the country. He invited Ambassador Aftab to visit the regional chambers of commerce and industry during her travels in the country.
The Ambassador of Pakistan presented the priorities of her mandate, which are aimed at maintaining the bilateral economic relations. She shared that Bulgaria is viewed as an entry point for the EU for Pakistani goods. Trade with Bulgaria amounts to about USD 42 million /in 2019/ and has great potential for development.
According to Ambassador Aftab, Pakistani companies do not know Bulgaria, the economy and the conditions for doing business well and therefore rarely work with Bulgarian partners. It is precisely in this direction that the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Embassy of Pakistan in Sofia have agreed to cooperate. The next step is to organize a virtual event in the first half of 2021 to acquaint Pakistani companies with the business environment in Bulgaria.
