The first innovative fabric in Europe for biodegradable coffee cups production

When the entrepreneurship and the innovations meet the professionalism, results are achieved. “In Bulgaria, the circular economy is rapidly developing, despite the difficult pandemic situation”. This was stated by the Minister of Economy Daniela Vezieva, in the city of Plovdiv, at the opening of the first innovative fabric in Europe for biodegradable edible coffee cups.

CUPFFEE was included for participation in MOVECO project, implemented by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, under the "The Danube Transnational Programme". The project strives to bring forward the wider application of a circular production model. During the final meeting in Linz, Austria, CUPFFEE was awarded with an "innovative product" 2019 for the "degradable waffle coffee cups" produced by them. It competed with over 40 companies from the Danube region.

“30 people and 3 machines already work at the enterprise” the Executive Director Miroslav Zapryanov stated. They produce 2.5 million edible cups per month. The company’s ambitions are to purchase 3 more machines, with the help of which the turnover will increase to 10 million units per month.

The Cupffee fabric is located in “Trakiya” Industrial Zone in the city of Plovdiv.  The cups are available in over 30 countries around the world. The main goal is to reduce the large amount of waste of plastic cups that decompose.

The site has an area of 3600 square meters and the world's first automatic assembly line for biodegradable.
