Turnover indices in services in the third quarter of 2012


The turnover indices in services cover the activities included in sections “Transportation, storage and post”, “Information and communication” and “Other business services”.

Quarterly changes

According to preliminary data from the third quarter of 2012 the total turnover index for section “Transportation, storage and post”, calculated on the basis of seasonally adjusted data decreased by 2.7% than the previous quarter. The decline was mainly due to the activities Land transport and Water transport, which decreased on the previous quarter by 7.9% and 7.6%, respectively. An increase was observed in division Postal and courier activities - 1.7%.

The total turnover index in section “Information and communication” decreased by 7.8% in comparison with the previous quarter. The highest decline was observed in Telecommunications - 10.3% and Motion picture, video and TV programme production, music publishing activities - 9.5%. An increase of index was registered in Publishing activities - 2.1%.

In “Other business services” the highest increase in comparison with the previous quarter was observed in Activities of head offices; management consultancy activities - by 9.2% and Advertising and market research - by 4.8%

Annual changes

During the third quarter of 2012 the total turnover index, working day adjusted in section „Transportation, storage and post” increased by 3.3% compared to the same quarter of 2011. This increase was mainly due to the Land transport - by 9.8% and Postal and courier activities - by 8.7%. The reduction was observed in Water transport - by 21.4% and Air transport - by 15.1%.

The total working day adjusted turnover index in section „Information and communication” fell by 6.1% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2011. The mainly decrease was in Publishing activities - by 18.7% and Information service activities - by 17.6%.

An increase of index was reported in Computer programming, consultancy and related activities by 8.5%.

In „Other business services” the biggest growth in comparison with the third quarter of 2011 was observed in Employment activities by 24.6%, in Travel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities by 23.7% and in Activities of head offices; management consultancy activities by 22.1%.

Drop of index was reported in Advertising and market research by 21.3%.
