For another year, Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry celebrated the World Day for Safety and Health at Work




The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tsvetan Simeonov, laid flowers on the memorial plaque in front of the building of the CITUB and paid tribute to those who died and were injured in work accidents.

In 2023, 2,709 occupational accidents were reported, and 87 employees lost their lives at work in Bulgaria.

The event was honored by numerous trade union organizations, public authorities and business representatives. The public authorities was represented by the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy Lazar Lazarov, the director of the EA "Main Labor Inspection" Eng. Ekaterina Atanasova and the acting manager of the National Insurance Institute (NII) Vesela Karaivanova. The trade unions, was represent by vice-presidents of CITUB Daniela Alexieva and Todor Kapitanov, other presidents and representatives of federations members of CITUB. The business was represented by Tsvetan Simeonov, chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and BIA.

Tsvetan Simeonov reminded the audience that it is tradition for the BCCI to work to improve the working conditions of employees in private business, at all levels, because this can only bring dividends to both parties.

"The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its colleagues working on these measures are committed to doing everything possible to prevent an increase in injuries and deaths at the workplace in the future", stated the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov to the other social partners and representatives of the media.

"The figures for the number of incidents and deaths show that there is still work to be done in this direction. We trust that in the new dimensions we are entering, like a robotization, artificial intelligence and etc., no matter how much they cause concerns, with their help we will achieve success in the need to reduce injuries and deaths at the workplace", added Simeonov.
