The Minister of Labour and Social Policy of the Republic of Bulgaria Totyo Mladenov took part in the high-level international Decent Work Conference, which was held in Moscow on 11 and 12 December. The Conference was organized on the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with the support of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
Bulgaria is the first CEE country which has implemented the ILO concept for integrated inspection of labour legislation, the Minister stressed in his speech. He explained that the labour inspectors pay special attention to consulting employers on the correct application of labour legislation.
After the end of the Conference in Moscow, the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) of which BCCI is also a member released a statement in support of continuing structural reforms to encourage business confidence to create jobs. According to it “sovereign debt, inappropriate regulation and unacceptably high levels of youth unemployment are among the immediate problems that need to be resolved”.
