BCCI’s first meeting with the new CEO of EUROCHAMBRES Ben Butters

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov had talks with the new CEO of the Association of the European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBRES) Ben Butters. The main purpose of the talks was to discuss the expectations of the Bulgarian business community with regard to the European economic cooperation and its improvement, for which EUROCHAMBRES works. Ben Butters said that businesses in many countries are experiencing difficulties due to the deteriorating economic and health situation around the world. Many companies make difficult decisions - to cease operations, lay off employees, shift their activities to another area, etc. The role of the chambers of commerce and industry in such moments is very responsible – to help companies as much as possible make informed and reasonable choices during a crisis.

Simeonov congratulated Butters on his appointment as CEO of EUROCHAMBRES as of July 2020. He has many years of experience in the organization and a professional view of its various fields of activity.

In connection with the forthcoming meetings of the Association's management in September and the Board of Directors in October this year, guidelines for the work of EUROCHAMBRES were discussed to support chambers of commerce in Europe and to help overcome the difficulties of their member companies.

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov said that he expects even greater activity from EUROCHAMBRES in the preparation of various EU programs and attracting projects that benefit the entire system. The dialogue between the chambers of commerce and industry and business community is crucial for setting conditions, projects and financing that ensure greater stability. Simeonov also stressed that this applies to both individual economic entities and chambers of commerce, as in some countries they need capacity building, and the BCCI can be useful in this regard with its experience in developing and maintaining an electronic bilingual register of member companies, providing commercial arbitration, which is also digitalized, etc.

BCCI will additionally inform its members on its cooperation and joint activities with EUROCHAMBRES.
