The start of Bulgaria's gas interconnection with Turkey will happen next week, Deputy Energy Minister Ivan Ayolov disclosed.
A Bulgarian expert group left to Ankara on February 10th to prepare a memorandum according to the agreement of Bulgarian Minister of Economy Dragomir Stoynev and Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz. The document is expected to be signed around March 14th.
"I hope it will then give start to the active implementation of the project and that within two years the connection will be ready ," Ayolov noted.
As a result, Bulgaria will have access to an alternative to Russian gas supplies.
A similar link to Romania should become operational by April.
