The 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Tunisia and Bulgaria will be commemorated this year through a series of cultural initiatives and a bilateral business forum
H.E. Imen Laajili Ammari, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia, based in Belgrade and accredited to Bulgaria, paid an official visit to the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), where she met with its President, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov. The discussions focused on opportunities to further strengthen and expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation. This visit marks Ambassador Ammari’s second meeting with BCCI since the beginning of her mandate.
During the meeting, Ambassador Ammari announced that Tunisia and Bulgaria will celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations in 2025. To mark this milestone, a program of cultural events is being prepared, alongside an official visit to Bulgaria by a Tunisian business delegation scheduled for June. In cooperation with the BCCI, a bilateral business forum will be organized, accompanied by an exhibition presenting traditional Tunisian products.
Ambassador Ammari emphasized Tunisia’s strong export potential, highlighting products such as high-quality olive oil and olives, dates, citrus fruits, canned sardines, and other agri-food goods.
According to data provided by the Tunisian Embassy, approximately 34,000 Bulgarian tourists visited Tunisia in 2025, representing a 400 percent increase compared to 2019, underscoring the growing people-to-people and tourism ties between the two countries.
