BCCI and the Embassy of the State of Israel Discussed New Initiatives to Increase Bilateral Economic Cooperation

Tadian Poplinger, Deputy Head of the Embassy of the State of Israel in Sofia, and Victor Darov, responsible for the economic and trade affairs, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and held a meeting with BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov. During the talk, they discussed opportunities for increasing the bilateral trade and economic cooperation and for organising joint initiatives between the two countries.

Tadian Poplinger presented the Embassy’s latest initiatives, aimed at encouraging the partnerships between Bulgarian and Israeli companies. He highlighted the specialised seminars held successfully in the fields of water management, modern technologies and healthcare, which have already led to specific contacts and joint projects between companies from both countries. At the same time, he noted that there are additional opportunities to deepen and increase the economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Israel.

On his part, the BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov pointed out that prospective areas for deepening the cooperation are healthcare, agriculture, energy, drone production, water resources management and high technologies, among others.

A main focus in the meeting was the idea of organising a joint event, devoted to the waters sector, to bring together representatives of Bulgarian and Israeli companies, institutions and experts for presentation of innovative solutions and good practices. Tsvetan Simeonov supported the initiative to hold a Business Forum and bilateral business meetings and noted that BCCI already has successful experience in organising and participating in specialised exhibitions and seminars in Bulgaria and Israel on these topics.

During the discussion, the President of BCCI drew attention to the need for wider introduction of modern technologies in the management of the water infrastructure in Bulgaria. He expressed the opinion that the innovative solutions, applied successfully in Israel, can contribute to a significant reduction in the losses within the water distribution network and to an increase in the sector’s efficiency.

The meeting’s participants united in support of the view that organising such a Forum would provide a valuable opportunity to Bulgarian companies and institutions to establish direct contacts with leading Israeli organisations, to exchange experience and discuss the prospects of development of the sector.

It is envisaged that the joint event will take place in the month of November in Sofia.
