The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov participated in the meetings, organised during the official visit of President Rumen Radev to Japan.
The Bulgarian Head of State and the business delegation, accompanying him in the Land of the Rising Sun, held a meeting with the Japanese Business Federation, called Keidanren, in Tokyo.
Mr Radev expressed the opinion that it is time for the bilateral partnership with Japan to develop beyond the limits of trading and for Bulgaria to start applying the Japanese model of interaction between science, education and economy. In the meeting, the Head of State emphasised that Bulgaria values highly the Japanese companies, which have invested in our country, and it is now ready to expand the bilateral economic partnership in new areas, with starting joint productions, establishing R&D centres and making scientific exchange, among others.
In the past years, the Bulgarian economy transformation has led to the fact that a big share of Bulgaria’s export is taken by products of electronics and robotics which reveals significant potential for cooperation with Japan – one of the leading countries in these sectors. Bulgaria achieves success also in the production and export of micro and nano satellites and in the development of software and components for the automotive industry which additionally gives an opportunity to carry out joint projects.
The prospect of partnership between Bulgaria and Japan in the field of the defence industry and science was also discussed in the meeting.
Rumen Radev underlined that signing a Declaration of Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Japan was a clear indication of the institutions' support for the implementation of joint projects by the representatives of businesses from both countries. Apart from the strategic location of Bulgaria, being a bridge between Europe and Asia, our country has a favourable tax policy for investors, as well as highly educated and qualified human capital. The Bulgarian Head of State invited Keidanren Business Federation from Japan to visit our country for holding a Bulgarian-Japanese business event to fix specific projects within the bilateral cooperation.
BCCI President awarded the Keidanren Japanese Business Federation an honorary diploma as a mark of recognition of the long-standing partnership in support of the business relations between Bulgaria and Japan.
The Bulgarian delegation also joined a celebration to mark the DAY OF BULGARIA at EXPO 2025 in the city of Osaka. At the official concert on that occasion, President Radev said that thousands of visitors were passing and dropping into the Bulgarian pavilion at EXPO 2025 every day and they had the chance to get acquainted for the first time not only with the Bulgarian rich history and culture and traditions, but also with the modern high-tech image of our country.
President Rumen Radev met with the Japanese Emperor Naruhito and with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Fukushiro Nukaga and he will visit many big Japanese companies. The visit will include an economic Seminar as well, held and organised by the Embassy of Bulgaria in Tokyo and by JETRO, the Japanese Organisation for External Trade.
