Meeting with the Ambassador of Bulgaria in Canada

The progress in the EU-Canada relations was the main topic of the conversation between the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov and the Ambassador of Bulgaria in Canada Svetlana Stoycheva-Etropolski. Simeonov noted that the forums organized in 2017 and 2018 by BCCI and its partners entitled "Why Canada?" were extremely useful for explaining the benefits of the CETA agreement. The organization of another similar forum during Autumn 2019 in the town of Stara Zagora is foreseen together with the participation of the Embassy of Canada in Bucharest, the Bulgarian-Canadian Business Network and the National Business Network.

Currently, key sectors in the economic relations between Bulgaria-Canada are: information technology, food industry, pharmaceuticals, mining, perfumery, furniture manufacturing, textile industry, mechanical engineering, etc.

The opportunities for promotion and deepening of the bilateral economic relations were also discussed, the potential of which, according to Ambassador Etropolski, is very substantial. A form of cooperation was agreed in exchange of visits of business representatives in Canada and Bulgaria. In this regard, a Bulgarian business mission is scheduled to be organized in Canada at the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020.
