BCCI and the Montenegro Embassy Discussed the Development of Bilateral Trade and Economic Relations
The Ambassador of Montenegro in Sofia, H.E. Djordje Janković, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and held a meeting with the Chamber Vice President, Dr Vasil Todorov, PhD. During the conversation, they discussed the opportunities for developing the trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Janković announced that on 21-22 April 2026 in Podgorica, it is planned to hold a session of the Joint Bulgarian-Montenegrin Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, which will be followed by a Business Forum. The participants discussed also the option of signing a Cooperation Agreement between the national Chambers of Bulgaria and Montenegro during the forthcoming events.
Vasil Todorov noted that the cooperation between the two national Chambers develops successfully on a multilateral basis within the framework of their membership in the Association of Balkan Chambers and in Eurochambers. He also put an emphasis on the training sessions, run throughout the years with experts from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Montenegro in the Arbitration Court at BCCI.
In addition, H.E. Djordje Janković pointed out that a Joint Working Group between the Ministries of Transport of both countries is expected to start work and it will discuss the possibility of opening a direct air lane between Sofia and Podgorica.
Vasil Todorov supported the need to improve transport connectivity with the purpose of strengthening tourist and economic ties between Bulgaria and Montenegro. He expressed the opinion that the production of joint tourist packages, targeted at markets in Asia or the USA, would contribute to more active regional cooperation.
