The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a meeting between its President Tsvetan Simeonov and H.E. Zurab Khamashuridze, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia in Sofia. The meeting was also attended by Natia Vashalomidze, an Embassy representative in Sofia.
Mr Simeonov presented the activity of the Chamber which is a long-standing partner of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Georgian Employers' Association in different regional and international formats. A topic of discussion was the cooperation within the Organisation for Black Sea Economic Cooperation, currently run by Georgia, and in the second half of 2025, Bulgaria held the presidency of this Organisation.
Ambassador Khamashuridze outlined the main parameters of the Georgian economy which has recorded a steady growth over the past 7 years. The country is crossed by the so-called Middle Transport Corridor in an east-west direction, which is the most convenient way to transport goods at the moment due to the war in Ukraine and the numerous challenges of using any roads in the South. Georgia has Free Trade Agreements, concluded with all its neighbouring countries and important partners, including Turkey, the European Union and China, among others. Such Agreements with India and the USA are currently under discussion. The goal is to turn Georgia into a regional hub for and economic development. The government has increased its focus on the development of the transport and logistic infrastructure, energy, tourism and agriculture.
Ambassador Khamashuridze presented several important projects with the participation of Georgia.
The participants discussed the option of holding events in BCCI with the purpose of presenting the opportunities for doing business with Georgia, as well as for holding bilateral business meetings among companies from both countries.
