During a working meeting, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), held talks with H.E. Ms. Dai Qingli, Ambassador of China to Sofia, regarding the possibilities to develop bilateral trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and China. Mr. Wan Shensi, Attaché of the Economic and Commercial Affairs Department at the Embassy, also participated in the meeting.
The meeting addressed the potential for Bulgarian products such as wine, mineral water, sunflower oil, and rose oil to penetrate the Chinese market. Discussions included possibilities for joint production aimed at meeting the demand of the Chinese market, as well as the necessity of engaging consultancy firms or agents specializing in the Chinese market to facilitate access to large supermarkets and retail chains—a widely recommended practice in China.
Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov expressed BCCI’s readiness to assist in organizing meetings between Bulgarian industry associations and Chinese agents and consultancy firms, with the aim of deepening the cooperation.
The Chinese Embassy also provided information on opportunities for exporting frozen fruits to China.
Further discussions covered the capabilities and opportunities of Chinese companies in the sectors such as railway construction, renewable energy sources, and others. Ambassador Dai Qingli emphasized that Bulgaria’s strategic geographical location should be leveraged to establish strong connections between Europe and Asia.
