Bulgaria has the second lowest public debt in the EU


 

Bulgaria has the second lowest public debt in the EU, according to the latest revised data to Eurostat. At the end of 2013 the debt of the EU-28 amounted to EUR 11.55 trillion or 85.4% of GDP and grows compared to previous years.

Lowest debt as a percentage of GDP were recorded in Estonia (10.1%), Bulgaria (18.3%), Luxembourg (23.6%), Romania (37.9%), Latvia (38.2%), Sweden (38.6%) and Lithuania (39%). Even with loans taken in 2014 Bulgaria is still before Luxembourg in terms of debt as a percentage of GDP.
