Bulgarian exports with growth of 3.8% in January


In January 2019, goods in the total amount of BGN 4 558.3 ​​million were exported from Bulgaria, which is 3.8% more than in the same month of the previous year, preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute show. Total goods imported in the country in January amounted to BGN 4,983.5 million, or 1.5% less than in January 2018. The external trade balance (FOB exports - CIF imports) was negative in January 2019 and amounted to BGN 425.2 million. Trade of Bulgaria with Non-EU Countries: In January, exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries increased by 7.5% compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 1 394.2 million. Our main trading partners are Turkey, China, the United States of America, Egypt, Serbia and the Russian Federation, which account for 54.4% of the exports to third countries.

Imports of goods from third countries in Bulgaria in January 2019 increased by 9.1% compared to the same month of 2018 and amounted to BGN 1 994.3 million. The largest is the value of goods imported from the Russian Federation, Turkey, China and Egypt. The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria with third countries in January was negative and amounted to BGN 600.1 million.

In 2018, Bulgaria's exports to the EU grew by 9.1% compared to 2017 and amounted to BGN 37,697.5 million, preliminary NSI data show. The main trading partners of Bulgaria are Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece, France and Belgium, which account for 67.5% of the exports to the EU Member States.

In December 2018, exports to the EU increased by 6.6% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 2 681.0 million. Bulgaria's EU imports in 2018 increased by 5.5% compared to the previous year and reached BGN 39,903.8 million. The largest is the value of goods imported from Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain and Greece. In December 2018, Bulgaria's imports from the EU Member States decreased by 6.7% compared to December 2017 and amounted to BGN 3 064.1 million. The foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) of Bulgaria to the EU for 2018 is negative and is worth BGN 2,206.3 million.
