Despite the difficulties, there is interest, will and desire for the development of economic relations between Bulgaria and Moldova

The Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Bulgaria and Moldova held an online event to promote economic cooperation between the two countries. BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov opened the event and stressed that business organizations are obliged to keep working and serve companies, despite the current difficulties. A logical consequence of several months of blocking all economic activities is the reduction of exports. In addition, as a result of the pandemic measures, our country was not visited by millions of foreign tourists and so the tourism sector was blocked.

Sergiu Harea, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, said that the pandemic has affected the development of economic relations between the two countries, and the sector most affected in the country is agriculture. Moldova expects a reduction in GDP by 5-7% by the end of 2020. In order to meet the new needs of companies, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova conducts virtual events and sets up many digital services.

H.E.  Anatol Cebuc, Ambassador of Moldova to Bulgaria, and H.E. Evgeni Stoychev, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Moldova, also supported the event and made brief speeches. According to Ambassador Cebuc, the exchange of ideas, opinions and experiences is a starting point for developing new business ventures and creating new partnerships. Ambassador Stoychev pointed out that despite the difficulties facing the world economy, there is interest, will and desire to develop economic ties between the two countries. Moldova is an active and traditional economic partner of Bulgaria and all possibilities for establishing new forms of cooperation should be explored.

The participants in the event - Bulgarian and Moldovan companies from various sectors of economy, got acquainted with the conditions for doing business in both countries through presentations made by the Invest Bulgaria Agency and the CCI of the Republic of Moldova.

There was also a discussion with topics of interest for companies that offer food products, beverages, transport services, expertise in the field of transport, control and measurement systems, energy, construction, light industry - clothing and footwear, etc. and seek cooperation in the chemical industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the production of glass products, construction, the food industry, mechanical engineering, etc.
