Samokov Hosted a Bulgarian-Hungarian Business Forum Accompanied by B2B Meetings


The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated in the Third Bulgarian-Hungarian Business Forum, held during the Hungarian Days in the town of Samokov. Over 110 representatives of businesses and institutions from both countries took part in the event.

The organisers were the Commercial Section at the Republic of Bulgaria Embassy in Hungary, Samokov Municipality in cooperation with the Regional Council for Samokov Development, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bács-Kiskun County.

Vladimir Tomov, member of the Management Board and President of the Investment Council at BCCI, took part in the event by presenting BCCI’s main ties with partners from Hungary and the Investment Council’s financial and investment instruments for supporting businesses.

The event was opened by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Anton Kostadinov, who noted that in 2025, the bilateral exchange of goods between Bulgaria and Hungary was over EURO 2.4 billion, representing a growth of over 7% compared to the previous year.

The Forum highlighted the potential for increasing bilateral cooperation. It was emphasised that Hungary is among Bulgaria’s key trade and investment partners. The Deputy Minister noted that the Bulgarian export to Hungary exceeds €600 million and the Hungarian investments in our country amount, approximately, to EURO 3 billion.

The Forum key highlights included the presentation of the vision for development of the new Samokov Municipality Industrial Zone, made by the Mayor – Eng. Angel Jorgov. He emphasised the town’s strategic location and the strengths of the Industrial Zone.

As part of the Forum, a presentation was also made on Samokov as a year-round destination with developed tourism, including Borovets, Malyovitsa, the mineral springs in Belchin, a rich cultural calendar and a high quality of life.

The event was also attended by H.E. Maria Angelieva, Ambassador of Bulgaria in Hungary, Csaba Balogh, Consul of Hungary in Bulgaria, József Gaál, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bács-Kiskun County and Deputy Mayor of Kecskemét, as well as representatives of Bulgarian and Hungarian companies.
