The Board of Directors of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce discussed upcoming activities and initiatives

A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce /EuroChambers/ was held in a hybrid format, at which upcoming activities and initiatives of the organization were discussed. BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov took part in the meeting.

Among the important upcoming events are: General Assembly of EuroChambers in Malmö, Sweden /June 12/, and the 7th edition of the European Parliament of Enterprises in November - the largest event at the EU level designed for entrepreneurs. Over 700 participants will be present this year, from 43 countries, including Bulgaria, who will take on the role of members of the European Parliament /EP/ for one day, discussing and voting on the most important topics for business. The 2025 edition will focus on three key topics for the business community - energy, skills and international trade.

Speaking to the Eurochambres Board of Directors on 30 April, MEP Brando Benifei emphasised the need for a strong, coordinated EU response to tariffs imposed (and pending) by the US on European products. As Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the US, Mr Benifei also underlined the importance of a diversified EU trade strategy, building commercial relations with other major and developing economies around the world. Eurochambres President, Vladimír Dlouhý, supported this approach and highlighted the importance of a strong bilateral business dialogue in order to demonstrate the impact of tariffs in both the EU and the US.

The importance of multilateralism and the rules-based international trade order was also cited by Peter Chase, Senior Fellow at the German Marshall Fund. Eurochambres will continue to provide input to the European Commission on the impact of the US tariffs and to support their efforts to strive for more favourable transatlantic trade and investment conditions.

The President of the BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov discussed with his colleagues issues for the development of the organization on the topics: budget and finances, upcoming activities, European Congress of Chambers of Commerce in Valencia in 2026, etc.

During the meeting, it was also announced the preparation of a mission by representatives of the management and members of the European Chambers to visit the USA and organize meetings with the American Chamber of Commerce.
