On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the establishment of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the Deputy-President of Eurochambres and President of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aigars Rostovskis, arrived in Sofia.
Tsvetan Simeonov met with his colleague and discussed key economic issues, including the economic and investment environment in Bulgaria on the eve of the introduction of the single European currency, Eurochambres initiatives such as the European Parliament of Enterprises and the European Economic Survey, Latvia’s economic progress, and other relevant topics. Dr. Vasil Todorov, Vice President of BCCI, also took part in the meeting.
Mr. Simeonov presented BCCI’s activities in support of both local and foreign companies, and together with his guests identified common characteristics and services shared by the Bulgarian and Latvian chambers. Rostovskis noted that Latvia maintains an annual economic growth rate between 1% and 2% and, as a small economy, remains highly adaptable and flexible. The discussion also emphasized the importance of e-government for the successful development of business, with Estonia highlighted as a leading example among the Baltic States.
The participants agreed to continue strengthening their cooperation at Eurochambres level and discussed possible future bilateral initiatives.
