Bulgaria’s Position in the 2025 World Talent Ranking: Opportunities and Challenges for National Human Capital
The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry continues its productive collaboration with the Swiss Institute for Management Development (IMD) in 2025. The Chamber actively participates in the latest IMD survey related to the World Talent Ranking 2025, which evaluates 69 countries, including Bulgaria, in terms of their ability to produce, retain, and attract specialists with the skills and qualifications required for the long-term development of national economies.
According to the latest edition of the IMD World Talent Ranking 2025, Bulgaria is ranked 60th out of 69 economies – compared to 61st out of 67 economies in 2024. This represents a slight improvement over the previous year. The report provides an important analysis of the opportunities and challenges the country faces in the global competition to attract and retain highly skilled professionals.
The ranking highlights that Bulgaria’s main challenges lie in the areas of “Readiness” and “Attractiveness.” In the Readiness category, which measures the workforce’s ability to meet new technological and skill demands, the country is ranked 68th.
Nevertheless, in the “Investment and Development” category, Bulgaria ranks 42nd, marking an improvement compared to the previous year and indicating growing efforts to develop human capital. There is significant potential to improve Bulgaria’s position in this area, as increased investments in education and innovation could give a strong boost to future performance.
