Bulgarian-Australian Business Council (BABC): The EU–Australia Free Trade Agreement Marks a New Phase in the Bilateral Business Relations

The Bulgarian-Australian Business Council (BABC) welcomes the official signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the European Union and Australia on 24 March 2026—a landmark milestone in the development of economic and strategic relations between the two regions.

The long-awaited agreement lays the foundation for deeper cooperation in trade, investment, security, and innovation, and opens up new possibilities for businesses in both Europe and Australia.

“This marks a long-anticipated and highly consequential step forward. The signing of the agreement sends a clear and powerful signal of the deepening partnership between the EU and Australia—not only in trade, but also across strategically vital sectors such as energy, technology, and innovation,” said Yoana Kehlibarova, President of the Bulgarian-Australian Business Chamber (BABC).

Following its ratification, the agreement is expected to enhance market access, reduce trade barriers, and create new opportunities in sectors such as renewable energy, critical raw materials, advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, and services.
