Mobility Package I provisions lead to negative economic consequences for road transport in the European Union

The provisions of the Mobility Package I lead to negative economic consequences for road transport in the European Union. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Vladimir Varbanov at a Round Table on Global Transport and the War in Ukraine in the framework of the International Transport Forum in Leipzig.

"The combined effect of the restrictions of the Mobility Package I and the ongoing military conflict are having a negative impact on all modes of transport, especially on companies based in Member States near Europe's external borders", the Deputy Minister said. He pointed out that rising fuel prices and the continuing shortage of professional drivers of heavy good vehicles within the European Union are also having a negative impact on road hauliers.

During the discussion, Vladimir Varbanov announced that 12 projects co-financed by the European Union are currently being implemented in Bulgaria, developing the transport infrastructure. Most of them are in the field of rail and road transport, he added.
