In the second quarter of 2026, Bulgaria's GDP grew by 2.8% compared to the same period of 2025, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported on September 7. The GDP in the second quarter also grew by 0.7% compared to the previous quarter.
The data has been revised upward slightly from the previous estimate, which indicated growth of 2.7% on an annual basis and 0.6% on a quarterly basis.
Data from the NSI shows that in the first quarter of the year, GDP grew by 2.9% compared to the first quarter of the previous year and by 0.7% compared to the last quarter of 2025.
In the second quarter of 2026, 79% of GDP was spent on final consumption, while investments accounted for 23% of GDP. The foreign trade balance for goods and services was negative.
