Bulgaria and Montenegro have great potential for expanding industrial and investment cooperation

Vesna Radonjić, Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of Montenegro in Sofia, discussed with Dr. Vasil Todorov, Vice President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the upcoming high-level conference AIM 2026 – „From Partnerships to Projects: Investing in Montenegro's European Future", which will take place on October 20–21, 2026, in Portonovi, Montenegro.

Vesna Radonjić informed that the conference is organized under the auspices of the Government of Montenegro, jointly with the European Commission and with the support of the Investment Agency of Montenegro.

The forum aims to connect representatives of the public sector, international financial institutions, institutional investors, development banks, and leading international companies, as well as to encourage the implementation of concrete investment projects in the context of Montenegro's European integration.

Dr. Vasil Todorov emphasized that the conference represents a good opportunity for Bulgarian companies to join the regional investment dialogue and establish new contacts with potential partners. He noted that the outlined priority sectors are also of essential importance for the Bulgarian economy and create opportunities for the development of specific bilateral and regional initiatives.

Dr. Todorov expressed the BCCI's full support for Montenegro's European integration and stressed the importance of the process for the economic stability and development of the region. According to him, Montenegro is among the Western Balkan countries demonstrating significant progress in implementing the priorities related to European Union membership.

During the meeting, the need to improve transport connectivity in the Balkans was also discussed, including the possibility of opening a direct air route between Bulgaria and Montenegro. Enhancing transport links would create additional conditions for boosting bilateral trade and economic relations, developing tourism, and facilitating business contacts between the two countries.

 In conclusion, the sides expressed their readiness to continue the dialogue and to encourage business participation in initiatives aimed at developing regional economic and investment cooperation.
