Industrial producer prices in Bulgaria rise by 12.5% in August 2022 M/M – Eurostat


Industrial producer prices in Bulgaria rose by 12.5% in August 2022 compared with July 2022. This was the second-highest increase rate among the 27 EU member states, only behind Ireland (+28.4%), the Statistical Office of the European Commission (Eurostat) said in a report published on Tuesday. In July 2022 compared with June 2022, industrial producer prices in Bulgaria went up by 8.0%.

In the EU, industrial producer prices in August 2022 compared with July 2022 grew by 4.9%. In the euro area, they rose by 5.0%. This means faster month-on-month growth than in July, when such prices increased, respectively, by 3.7% and 4.0% compared with June 2022.

In August 2022 compared with August 2021, industrial producer prices in Bulgaria soared by 68.3%, the third-highest increase rate in the EU behind Ireland (+97.4%) and Romania (+70.9%). In July 2022, industrial prices in Bulgaria rose by 55.9% compared with July 2021.

In the EU, industrial prices in August 2022 went up by 43.0% compared with August 2021, and in the euro area the rate was 43.3%.

Industrial producer prices in the EU's energy sector increased by 11.9% month-on-month. Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 0.3%.

The highest monthly increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Ireland (+28.4%), Bulgaria (+12.5%) and Hungary (+10.6%), while the only decreases were observed in Luxembourg (-1.8%), Portugal (-0.6%) and Czechia (-0.1%).
