BCCI Honoured Turkey’s Commercial Counsellor Chagatay Basher for His Contribution to Bilateral Economic Relations


Chagatay Basher, Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Sofia, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and met with the Chamber President Tsvetan Simeonov. The reason for the visit was the ending of his term of office in Bulgaria.

During the meeting, Tsvetan Simeonov emphasised the significance of Turkey as an important trade and economic partner of Bulgaria and commented that Bulgarian businesses find reliable partners among Turkish companies and investors. He expressed his gratitude for the good cooperation with the Commercial Section at the Turkish Embassy and for its active work in support of bilateral business relations.

On his part, Chagatay Basher expressed hope that the efforts of the Commercial Section at the Embassy would continue to contribute to the increase in the bilateral exchange of goods and to the expansion of the contacts between the businesses from both countries.

The discussed topics included the need for further facilitation of the traffic through the border crossing points between Bulgaria and Turkey. Emphasis was put on the capacities for introducing more efficient organisation and conducting joint checks on the border, which would contribute to a reduction in the time for crossing and to the faster movement of goods and cargoes.

At the end of the meeting, BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov awarded an honorary Diploma to Chagatay Basher as a gesture of gratitude for the good cooperation and for his contribution to the development and expansion of the bilateral trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Turkey during his tenure in Sofia.

BCCI expressed wishes to Mr Basher for success in his future professional activity and also, it expressed confidence that the established good contacts will continue to be a basis for deepening the economic partnership between Bulgaria and Turkey.
