Georgia – foreign trade and commercial relations with Bulgaria in the first half of 2016
Bulgaria’s Commercial Attaché at Tbilisi submitted to BCCI information about the trade turnover of Georgia, its dynamics, commodity positions, and partners. The information also includes data concerning the foreign trade of Georgia and the trade relations with Bulgaria in the first half of 2016 (according to preliminary data of the Georgian statistics – www.geostat.ge).
Bulgaria ranks 12th among Georgia’s partners with trade turnover of USD 120 M. Exports to Georgia amounted to USD 53,5 M, imports from Georgia – USD 66,5 M, with a negative trade balance for Bulgaria of USD 13 M. If the drugs for hepatitis C donated from Canada and Ireland are excluded from the statistics, Bulgaria occupies 10th place among Georgia’s trading partners.
The main trading partners for exports from Georgia are: Turkey, China, Russia, Armenia, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Switzerland, USA, and Canada.
Exports from Georgia to Bulgaria amounted to USD 66,5 M, a decrease of 33% because of the reduced imports of copper concentrate from the company which receives it in Bulgaria, due to planned repair works held. Bulgaria is the only EU member-state among Georgia’s ten main export partners and accounts for 7,0% of Georgia’s exports.
