The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with a report to the International Labor Conference
The Chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, in his capacity as a delegate of the Bulgarian employers at the 111th regular session of the International Labor Conference (ILC), presented a report on behalf of the nationally representative employers' organizations in Bulgaria, with a focus on the topic of social justice and New social contract.
In his speech, Tsvetan Simeonov shared that it is particularly important to reduce and prevent inequalities, as well as guarantees for social justice with priority in labor relations. He also emphasized that "as representatives of employers, it is important for us not to allow politicization of labor relations and to achieve a balance between measures to strengthen the economy and improve the living environment."
The President of the BCCI also emphasized the topic of the minimum wage "... as representatives of employers, we are seriously concerned about the direction of the recently proposed amendments to the national labor legislation, which are contrary to Directive (EU) 2022/2041 of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 19, 2022 on adequate minimum wages in the European Union and do not lead to the implementation of Convention 131 of the ILO, which provides not for numbers, but for a mechanism for determining the amount of the minimum wage.
This year, at the 111th session of the International Labor Conference, delegates will debate the reports of the Director-General on social justice and the situation of workers in the occupied Arab territories.
