Online meeting with Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nigeria


Tsvetan Simeonov, President of BCCI, participated in an online meeting with representatives of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nigeria. Representatives of the managements and the teams of the two chambers participated in the meeting. The purpose of the working session was to discuss the bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as an upcoming business mission from Nigeria which will visit Sofia in April this year.

H.E. Yanko Yordanov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Nigeria, said that on the eve of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Nigeria, the organization of a trade mission with Nigerian businessmen will give a new boost to the bilateral economic relations.

The President of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole, said that the Chamber is the oldest organization and one of the most active in West Africa. He noted that trade turnover between Bulgaria and Nigeria is encouraging and it is necessary to do everything possible to activate the unutilized potential.

The President of BCCI pointed out that Nigeria is a country rich in natural resources and a growing population with a large market, which makes it an important trading partner in Africa. He briefly presented the current economic situation in Bulgaria and the main macroeconomic indicators of the country. Emphasis was placed on the tax system and investment incentives. Tsvetan Simeonov also presented the services that the Chamber offers for the benefit of businesses, its main databases and the activity of the Arbitration Court at BCCI.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two chambers was also discussed.
